Welcome to the website of the
A. R. Smith Department of Chemistry at Appalachian State University. We are located in Boone , in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina, about two hours by automobile from Charlotte and Winston-Salem and about three and one-half hours from Raleigh-Durham and Knoxville, Tennessee. We are a member institution of the University of North Carolina. |
| The department is housed in the CAP Science Building at 525 Rivers Street (see campus map ), across the street from the Varsity Gymnasium and adjacent to the new parking deck. The main office is in CAP 417. |
