Dr. Richard Bennett, Jr. Undergraduate Research
Scholarships
2008-2009
I. What does it mean to be a Dr. Richard Bennett, Jr. Scholar?
The participating student will receive a scholarship of $1,500
over the academic year ($750 per semester) and will be encouraged to register for no more than 15 credit hours of course
work during each semester. The
student will:
á
Work at least 6 hours
per week during specific time periods that have been agreed upon by the
research advisor.
á
Disseminate their
results at the 2009 Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and
Appalachian State University Research Day (Dr. Richard Bennett, Jr. should be prominently acknowledged as the
source of support).
á
Attend Chemistry
Department seminars (Fridays at 2:00pm).
á
Attend monthly lunch meetings in which they will present
progress reports on their research (Dr.
Richard Bennett, Jr. should be prominently acknowledged as the source of
support).
II. Am I Eligible to Become a Dr. Richard
Bennett, Jr. Scholar?
The
eligible student will have:
á
Completed
his/her sophomore year.
á
Declared
a major in Chemistry.
á
Achieved
a Grade Point Average of 2.8 or better.
Students
with previous research experience are highly encouraged to apply.
